World Teen Mental Wellness Day

We all know that teenage years are very confusing time for every child. It can mean they feel misunderstood, want more time alone or with friends. So, these changes affect straight to the child’s mental health.

World Teen Wellness Day is announced on March 2 every year. This programme motive is to raise awareness, decrease stigma & speak very valuable conversation around the topic of Mental Wellbeing & to make those experiencing Mental Health challenges aware of available resources.

Globally 34% of teenagers between the age of 10 to 19 currently experiencing mental illness such as major depression. This is why it is crucial to understand and to have important conversations with young people about the struggles they are facing so that mental health issues can be addressed, before they fell in to illness like Depression substances, abuse and more.

Stable mental health is very much important for pre-teen & teenage development. These days preteen who are under 9-11 years old, their mental health as important as others. Everyone’s mental health is very much important. Among the common mental disorders that can be diagnosed in teenage stages are attention deficit, hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety fears, worries and
depression, behaviour disorder.

A child’s mental health includes both their physical and their mental health, physical health adds all the things how well a child develops, how strong and quickly they can recover from an incident. Mental health also states that how well child thinks, and cope with feelings and how well she/he behaves. Now a days mental health problems are common in children & teens. It is very necessary to notice a problem early on and get the right treatment at the right time. The very intrigue’s part is that children & teens they are growing and learning, changing all the time. So, it is very hard to tell the difference between mood & behaviour changes that happens.

Normal children, teenager that faces depression, anxiety, and different mental health disorder, parents play a very important role for their children mental health. At this situation parents can do a lot of things that can be very helpful for their child & how to get them out from that situation.

Today’s children play with their phones rather than playing outside, so the phone have given many advantages as well as disadvantages that can affect our mental health. There is a phobia called “nomophobia” (fear of being without a phone) smart phone addiction, also known as internet addiction disorder. So, we must minimize the screen timing.

Check with your teen that how their day was and how they are feeling and how things are going, listen to their words and observe that is there any changes in their behaviours. Carefully asking the child to share everything with them, what problem they are facing in day-to-day life, they might avoid the question but in a moderate level keep asking about their feelings.

Childhood & teenage are the time when child go outside meet new people, share different emotions & experience emotional ups & down. It is very normal for a teenage to develop a mental health problem. It is not something to be ashamed of, do not blame & shame that child because it would be more difficult for that child to grow or recover. It is very important helping that child & get their life together.
